I have to profess my love right now for Ricky’s NYC.
It’s a beauty store that carries obscure salon and vegan brands. They have every color of the rainbow in eyeshadows, nail polish, and hair dye. They also have wigs, sunglasses, rainboots, hosiery, and fun packets of tissues. There’s a homeopathic section in the back with all natural massage oils, soaps, shampoos. There’s a cubby also back there, filled with different incense sticks.
Oh my god, I love it so much. I only thought these stores only existed in New York City, but there’s one a half an hour away from my campus. What a beautiful place.
It’s not a cheap place, but all of the brands stocked are very high quality, more than likely all-natural or vegan, and the prices are significantly less than what you’d find at Sephora.
It was a really good time. I ended up getting a bunch of things: Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap (almond flavor), 2 bottles of Special Effects Hair Dye (in Devilish Red and Wildflower Purple), 10 sticks of incense (couldn’t tell you the flavors, but they are teasing me right now because I can’t light them in my dorm), and rainbow knee-high toe socks (because I’ll never be taken seriously at the roller disco without them). So that’s 15 items, and I spent less than $40.
I’m a big fan, and you should be too.
