Piet Mondrian
What is it about cubism and geometrical art that I find so electrifying?

Of course, Piet Mondrian was the master of it. The early 20th century Dutch painter first experimented with post-impressionistic art but then began to experiment with cubism, after being influenced by Picasso’s cubism period. His own style was a variety of different sized rectangles, with the color scheme and “roughness” of the lines varying from piece to piece. His work inspired Yves Saint Laurant to create a Mondrian-style dress in his 1965 collection.

I will recreate this dress one day, when I find the perfect plain white frock and get my hands on some fabric paint.
