Professor Blastoff

A few weeks ago, my dad was a guest for a second time on the Professor Blastoff podcast, this time around talking about my brother’s struggles with autism when he was younger, and how he’s been able to overcome it. I am really proud of dad for doing this. Reaching out to the hosts and sharing his vast knowledge with a wider audience is just perfect for him at this moment in time. Of course, I am also extremely proud of my little brother for working so hard, for all of his life.

This episode was also the one in which Tig Notaro, one of the hosts, announced that she had breast cancer. My heart absolutely goes out to her as well.

You can listen to the episode here.

And you can listen to the earlier podcast my dad did, on global sustainability, here.

dad's office

I think I know where I get my penchant for collecting things and decorating with them.

So this is my dad’s office. This is where I used to do my homework as a kid and watch episodes of Monty Python and Mystery Science Theater 3000. How was I not distracted by all of the awesome stuff on the walls?

As I may have mentioned before, my parents won’t be in this house too much longer, so this office and all of its contents will be greatly downsized in the move. I wanted to get some snaps of the room before things start to get taken down and put in boxes. Some things will go to me (YES) and some will be donated and sold.

I really should get my dad to get a booth at Comic Con (or at least an eBay account) to sell all of the comics he has that aren’t even pictured. No joke, this guy has about 7,000 comic books in storage. Now you know where I get that love, too.

Happy birthday, dad. You are always a superhero to me :)
